For the past couple of years we have entered a float and walkers at the London St Patrick's Day Parade which always takes place on the Sunday before St Patrick's Day. The parade starts at Park Lane and goes through Piccadilly, past Trafalgar Square to Whitehall Place.

Last year our float had the theme of an old Irish kitchen. The parents and children helped to decorate the lorry which was decked out in balloons and bunting. We also had a lovely backdrop painted of a traditional kitchen with the open fireplace and the children all dressed up as old men and women with the boys wearing flat caps, check shirts and braces. The girls all had shawls and long skirts and the adults on the float dressed as old women. We also had our own resident leprechaun to accompany us!

Unfortunately this year the weather was freezing with a biting wind. In spite of this the children all turned up and played, even though we had to bring rugs and blankets to keep them warm!! All the families walked behind the float with many children from the different classes.

We have been very lucky to have had a lorry and driver donated to us each year in order to take part in the parade. Last year was from Powerday and this year from Gilmac.
